TRUST: according to the Bible

Trust

Pro 1:7 Respect and obey the LORD! This is the beginning of knowledge. Only a fool rejects wisdom and good advice.

Pro 10:32 If you obey the Lord, you will always know the right thing to say. But no one will trust you if you tell lies.

Pro 3:29 Don't try to be mean to neighbors who trust you.

Pro 2:4 Search for wisdom as you would search for silver or hidden treasure.

Pro 2:5 Then you will understand what it means to respect and to know the LORD God.

Pro 2:6 All wisdom comes from the LORD, and so do common sense and understanding.

Pro 2:8 God sees that justice is done, and he watches over everyone who is faithful to him.

Pro 2:21 If you are honest and innocent, you will keep your land;

Pro 2:22 if you do wrong and can never be trusted, you will be rooted out.

Pro 5:15 You should be faithful to your wife, just as you take water from your own well.

Pro 5:16 And don't be like a stream from which just any woman may take a drink.

Pro 5:17 Save yourself for your wife and don't have sex with other women.

Pro 5:18 Be happy with the wife you married when you were young.

Pro 5:19 She is beautiful and graceful, just like a deer; you should be attracted to her and stay deeply in love.

Pro 5:20 Don't go crazy over a woman who is unfaithful to her own husband!

Pro 5:21 The LORD sees everything, and he watches us closely.

Pro 3:5 With all your heart you must trust the LORD and not your own judgment.

Pro 3:6 Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.

Pro 3:7 Don't ever think that you are wise enough, but respect the LORD and stay away from evil.

Pro 3:8 This will make you healthy, and you will feel strong.

Pro 12:5 Good people have kind thoughts, but you should never trust the advice of someone evil.

Pro 14:17 Fools have quick tempers, and no one likes you if you can't be trusted.

Pro 14:25 An honest witness can save your life, but liars can't be trusted.

Pro 15:16 It's better to obey the LORD and have only a little, than to be very rich and terribly confused.

Pro 15:29 The LORD never even hears the prayers of the wicked, but he answers the prayers of all who obey him.

Pro 16:1 We humans make plans, but the LORD has the final word.

Pro 16:3 Share your plans with the LORD, and you will succeed.

Pro 16:6 If we truly love God, our sins will be forgiven; if we show him respect, we will keep away from sin.

Pro 16:20 If you know what you're doing, you will prosper. God blesses everyone who trusts him.

Pro 16:29 Don't trust violent people. They will mislead you to do the wrong thing.

Trust

Pro 19:21 We may make a lot of plans, but the LORD will do what he has decided.

Pro 19:22 What matters most is loyalty. It's better to be poor than to be a liar.

Pro 19:23 Showing respect to the LORD brings true life-- if you do it, you can relax without fear of danger.

Pro 20:6 There are many who say, "You can trust me!" But can they be trusted?

Pro 20:22 Don't try to get even. Trust the LORD, and he will help you.

Pro 21:12 God is always fair! He knows what the wicked do and will punish them.

Pro 21:26 But people who obey God are always generous.

Pro 22:4 Respect and serve the LORD! Your reward will be wealth, a long life, and honor.

Pro 22:20 I have written thirty sayings filled with sound advice.

Pro 22:21 You can trust them completely to give you the right words for those in charge of you.

Trust

Pro 25:13  A messenger you can trust is just as refreshing as cool water in summer.

Pro 25:19  A friend you can't trust in times of trouble is like having a toothache or a sore foot.

Pro 27:6  You can trust a friend who corrects you, but kisses from an enemy are nothing but lies.

Pro 28:20  God blesses his loyal people, but punishes all who want to get rich quick.

Pro 28:25  Selfish people cause trouble, but you will live a full life if you trust the LORD.

Pro 28:26  Only fools would trust what they alone think, but if you live by wisdom, you will do all right.

Pro 29:25  Don't fall into the trap of being a coward-- trust the LORD, and you will be safe.

Pro 24:21  My children, you must respect the LORD and the king, and you must not make friends with anyone who rebels against either of them.

Pro 27:10  Don't desert an old friend of your family or visit your relatives when you are in trouble. A friend nearby is better than relatives far away.

trusted people to settle disagreements

Exo 18:13  The next day Moses was settling disagreements among the people. The people stood around Moses from morning until evening.
Exo 18:14  When Moses' father-in-law saw everything Moses was doing for the people, he asked, "Why are you doing this for the people? Why do you sit here alone, while all the people stand around you from morning until evening?"
Exo 18:15  Moses answered his father-in-law, "Because the people come to me to find out God's will.
Exo 18:16  Whenever they have a disagreement and bring it to me, I decide which person is right, and I tell them God's laws and instructions."
Exo 18:17  Moses' father-in-law replied, "What you're doing is not good.
Exo 18:18  You and your people will wear yourselves out. This is too much work for you. You can't do it alone!
Exo 18:19  Now listen to me, and I'll give you some advice. May God be with you! You must be the people's representative to God and bring their disagreements to him.
Exo 18:20  You must instruct them in the laws and the teachings, show them how to live, and tell them what to do.
Exo 18:21  "But choose capable men from all the people, men who fear God, men you can trust, men who hate corruption. Put them in charge of groups of 1,000, or 100, or 50, or 10 people.
Exo 18:22  Let them be the ones who usually settle disagreements among the people. They should bring all important cases to you, but they should settle all minor cases themselves. Make it easier for yourself by letting them help you.
Exo 18:23  If God commands you, and you do this, you will be able to continue your work, and all these people will have their disagreements settled so that they can go home."
Exo 18:24  Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said.
Exo 18:25  Moses chose capable men from all the Israelites and put them in charge of groups of 1,000, or 100, or 50, or 10 people.
Exo 18:26  These men were the ones who usually settled disagreements among the people. They would bring difficult cases to Moses, but they settled all minor ones themselves.

Trust the LORD to defeat your enemies...the battle isn't yours, it's God's

2Ch 20:14  Then the LORD'S Spirit came to Jahaziel. (He was the son of Zechariah, grandson of Benaiah, great-grandson of Jeiel, whose father was Mattaniah, a Levite descended from Asaph.)
2Ch 20:15  Jahaziel said, "Pay attention to me, everyone from Judah, everyone living in Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. This is what the LORD says to you: Don't be frightened or terrified by this large crowd. The battle isn't yours. It's God's.
2Ch 20:16  Tomorrow go into battle against them. They will be coming up the Ziz Pass. You will find them at the end of the valley in front of the Jeruel Desert.
2Ch 20:17  You won't fight this battle. Instead, take your position, stand still, and see the victory of the LORD for you, Judah and Jerusalem. Don't be frightened or terrified. Tomorrow go out to face them. The LORD is with you."
2Ch 20:18  Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face touching the ground. Everyone from Judah and the people who lived in Jerusalem immediately bowed down in front of the LORD.
2Ch 20:19  The Levites, descendants of Kohath and Korah, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with very loud songs.
2Ch 20:20  They got up early in the morning and went to the desert of Tekoa. As they were leaving, Jehoshaphat stopped and said, "Listen to me, people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem. Trust the LORD your God, and believe. Believe his prophets, and you will succeed."
2Ch 20:21  After he had advised the people, he appointed people to sing to the LORD and praise him for the beauty of his holiness. As they went in front of the troops, they sang, "Thank the LORD because his mercy endures forever!"
2Ch 20:22  As they started to sing praises, the LORD set ambushes against the Ammonites, Moabites, and the people of Mount Seir who had come into Judah. They were defeated.

Trust in the LORD and you will watch your enemies fall before you

Psa 91:2  I will say to the LORD, "You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."

Psa 91:4  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor.
Psa 91:5  You do not need to fear terrors of the night, arrows that fly during the day,
Psa 91:6  plagues that roam the dark, epidemics that strike at noon.
Psa 91:7  They will not come near you, even though a thousand may fall dead beside you or ten thousand at your right side.
Psa 91:8  You only have to look with your eyes to see the punishment of wicked people.

Psa 118:10  All the nations surrounded me, but armed with the name of the LORD, I defeated them.
Psa 118:11  They surrounded me. Yes, they surrounded me, but armed with the name of the LORD, I defeated them.
Psa 118:12  They swarmed around me like bees, but they were extinguished like burning thornbushes. So armed with the name of the LORD, I defeated them.
Psa 118:13  They pushed hard to make me fall, but the LORD helped me.
Psa 118:14  The LORD is my strength and my song. He is my savior.
Psa 118:15  The sound of joyful singing and victory is heard in the tents of righteous people. The right hand of the LORD displays strength.
Psa 118:16  The right hand of the LORD is held high. The right hand of the LORD displays strength.
Psa 118:17  I will not die, but I will live and tell what the LORD has done.
Psa 118:18  The LORD disciplined me severely, but he did not allow me to be killed.

Isa 26:4  Trust the LORD always, because the LORD, the LORD alone, is an everlasting rock.
Isa 26:5  He has brought down those who live high in the towering city. He levels it. He levels it to the ground and throws it into the dust.

Isa 26:7  The path of the righteous is level. O Upright One, you make the road of the righteous smooth.
Isa 26:8  Certainly, we wait with hope for you, O LORD, as we follow the path of your guiding principles. We want to remember you and your name.
Isa 26:9  With my soul I long for you at night. Yes, with my spirit I eagerly look for you. When your guiding principles are on earth, those who live in the world learn to do what is right.
Isa 26:10  Although the wicked are shown pity, they do not learn to do what is right. They do what is wrong in the upright land and do not see the majesty of the LORD.

Psa 118:8  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Psa 118:9  It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put confidence in princes.

don't trust a word

Pro 26:24  The pleasant talk of an enemy hides more evil plans
Pro 26:25  than can be counted-- so don't believe a word!

Pro 26:22  The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body.
Pro 26:23  Like the glaze covering an earthen vessel are fervent lips with an evil heart.
Pro 26:24  Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart;
Pro 26:25  when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart;
Pro 26:26  though his hatred be covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
Pro 26:27  Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling.
Pro 26:28  A lying tongue hates its victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

Jer 12:6  Even your relatives and members of your father's household betray you. They have also formed a mob to find you. Don't trust them when they say good things about you.

those who trust in riches

Psa 49:6  They trust their riches and brag about their abundant wealth.
Psa 49:7  No one can ever buy back another person or pay God a ransom for his life.

Psa 49:16  Do not be afraid when someone becomes rich, when the greatness of his house increases.
Psa 49:17  He will not take anything with him when he dies. His greatness cannot follow him.
Psa 49:18  Even though he blesses himself while he is alive (and they praise you when you do well for yourself),
Psa 49:19  he must join the generation of his ancestors, who will never see light again.
Psa 49:20  Mortals, with what they treasure, still don't have understanding. They are like animals that die.

Psa 52:5  But God will ruin you forever. He will grab you and drag you out of your tent. He will pull your roots out of this world of the living. Selah
Psa 52:6  Righteous people will see this and be struck with fear. They will laugh at you and say,
Psa 52:7  "Look at this person who refused to make God his fortress! Instead, he trusted his great wealth and became strong through his greed."

Psa 62:10  Do not count on extortion to make you rich. Do not hope to gain anything through robbery. When riches increase, do not depend on them.

Jer 48:7  Since you trust the things you do and your treasures, you will be captured. Chemosh will go into captivity with all its priests and officials.
Jer 48:8  The destroyer will come to every city, and no city will escape. The valley will be destroyed, and the plain will be laid waste as the LORD has threatened.

Jer 49:4  Why do you brag about your valleys, your fertile valleys, you unfaithful people? You trust your treasures. You think, "Who would attack me?"
Jer 49:5  I am going to bring terror on you from all around, declares the Almighty LORD of Armies. Everyone will be scattered. No one will gather the refugees.

1Ti 6:9  But people who want to get rich keep falling into temptation. They are trapped by many stupid and harmful desires which drown them in destruction and ruin.
1Ti 6:10  Certainly, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people who have set their hearts on getting rich have wandered away from the Christian faith and have caused themselves a lot of grief.

1Ti 6:17  Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life.
1Ti 6:18  Instruct them to do as many good deeds as they can and to help everyone. Remind the rich to be generous and share what they have.
1Ti 6:19  This will lay a solid foundation for the future, so that they will know what true life is like.

those who trust idols

Isa 42:17  Then those who trust idols and those who say to statues, "You are our gods" will be turned away and put to shame.

Eph 5:5  Being greedy, indecent, or immoral is just another way of worshiping idols. You can be sure that people who behave in this way will never be part of the kingdom that belongs to Christ and to God.

Col 3:5  Don't be controlled by your body. Kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex. Don't be immoral or indecent or have evil thoughts. Don't be greedy, which is the same as worshiping idols.

Rom 1:23  They don't worship the glorious and eternal God. Instead, they worship idols that are made to look like humans who cannot live forever, and like birds, animals, and reptiles.
Rom 1:24  So God let these people go their own way. They did what they wanted to do, and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful things with their bodies.
Rom 1:25  They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God's creation instead of God, who will be praised forever. Amen.
Rom 1:26  God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural.
Rom 1:27  Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.
Rom 1:28  Since these people refused even to think about God, he let their useless minds rule over them. That's why they do all sorts of indecent things.
Rom 1:29  They are evil, wicked, and greedy, as well as mean in every possible way. They want what others have, and they murder, argue, cheat, and are hard to get along with. They gossip,
Rom 1:30  say cruel things about others, and hate God. They are proud, conceited, and boastful, always thinking up new ways to do evil. These people don't respect their parents.
Rom 1:31  They are stupid, unreliable, and don't have any love or pity for others.
Rom 1:32  They know God has said that anyone who acts this way deserves to die. But they keep on doing evil things, and they even encourage others to do them.

1Co 6:9  Don't you know that evil people won't have a share in the blessings of God's kingdom? Don't fool yourselves! No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a pervert or behaves like a homosexual
1Co 6:10  will share in God's kingdom. Neither will any thief or greedy person or drunkard or anyone who curses and cheats others.

Rev 21:8  But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."
